Every year, we celebrate Mid Autumn festival by emphasizing a specific cultural activity that is uniquely Chinese. What can be more Chinese than Chinese Calligraphy?
The classrooms were transformed into a history station, a living exhibit of a traditional calligraphy desk and a fully costume professional calligrapher and finally several hands-on activities. The younger kids used sand, the lower grade schoolers with water. For those 9 years old and up, they used real brushes, calligraphy paper, ink stone and sticks.
Afterwards, we celebrated with cotton candy, moon cakes (not as popular as the cotton candy) and tea.
